Introduction Day

A new academic year means we will be welcoming a new generation of researchers. Some of you might already know Leuven and/or our faculty, others could be new to the city and even to our country. We want to wish all of you a warm welcome!

Your first weeks will probably be filled with visits to several administration units, doctoral courses and preparations to your own research by reading lots of papers. Nevertheless we hope you'll all take some time to get to know your new colleagues. Since PhD students are a bit of a species of its own, you will soon discover that being around people who understand your frustration, excitement and need for the occasional sugar/caffeine break is a very welcome and valuable addition to your PhD experience.

To help you on your way, we have organized a small introduction event especially for all new PhD students at October 4. We'll gather in the main hallway in front of the library at 5pm and start with a small tour of the building in which you will discover secret rooms, hidden exits and the best way to have your coffee. Afterwards we leave for the city center for a small tour past the best lunch options, ice cream parlors, coffee stops and we may or may not pass some historical buildings on our way.

Those who are already familiar with the city offerings, might wanna skip the tour and join for dinner only. You'll find us in Notre Dame at Grote Markt (on the corner with Naamsestraat, across St. Pieters Church) at 7pm. Just ask for the PhD academy group.
